Sir Elton John Is Recovering Following A ‘Potentially Deadly’ Infection

Yesterday, it was announced that Sir Elton John became ‘violently ill’ on a flight back to the UK from Santiago, Chile. The singer was nearing the end of his South American tour, when he contracted a ‘rare and potentially deadly infection’.

Upon returning to the UK, Sir Elton spent two nights in intensive care, whereby doctors fought the bacterial infection. It is alleged the musician spent a total of 12 days in hospital, before returning to his home to recuperate.

The singer’s management team stated, “Infections of this kind are rare and potentially deadly”. They added that: “Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery.”

The star has had to cancel 9 concerts in California and Las Vegas that were due to be played over the forthcoming weeks.  However, Elton will pick up his tour on June 6th in the UK.

For now, Sir Elton is recovering at home.

The musician said, “I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”

Many fans and organisations such as This Morning and BPI Music have taken to social media, wishing Sir Elton a quick recovery and offering support.

Elton’s Million Dollar Piano tour is due to end in May 2018.

The team at Fruk wish Sir Elton a speedy recovery, too.
