We’re not talking about women who have partners built like a rocket, if you experience pain during intercourse, this could be indicative of several health concerns. Unless you enjoy anal, sex should not be painful. Here are some warning signs that should not be ignored:
1.Endometriosis Problems in the Bedroom (Image: Independent) Pain during deep penetration is a warning light, as it could indicate endometriosis. The condition occurs when endometrial cells in the womb migrate to other areas, causing heavy and irregular periods, and pain during or after sex. Should this be a frequent problem, contact your GP. 2.STI’s Sexual Health Is So Important (Image: google) Painful sex (dyspareunia) can sometimes be a symptom of an infection like thrush. However, it can also be symptomatic of an STI such as: chlamydia, gonorrhoea, or genital herpes. If you notice an unusual discharge and pain during sex, visit your local GUM clinic immediately. 3.PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) Antibiotics Might be the Answer (Image: Wikipedia) The infection that occurs in the upper genital tract is often difficult to diagnose. However, symptoms that include painful sex, pain in the lower or middle abdomen, a yellow-green discharge, and painful urination ought not be ignored. Early diagnosis can lead to quick and effective treatment with antibiotics. 4.Uterine Fibroids Does This Look Familiar? (Image: wholisticmedicinecentre) These fibroids are benign tumours of which are found in the wall of the uterus. This condition will undoubtedly cause painful intercourse. Other signs to look out for are excessive menstrual bleeding, bleeding in-between periods, frequent urination, and lower back pain. Uterine fibroids, unless severe, is normally treated with Ibuprofen. 5.IBS
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common and long term problem, affecting the stomach and bowels. Other than feeling bloated, pain in the stomach, and frequent, urgent bowel habits, you can also expect to encounter periods whereby sex is painful. As depressing as that sounds, there is treatment available.
