There’s no point slimming, tanning, and having a new hair do, if your nails look like they haven’t seen a nail file for months. Follow these steps to get gorgeous nails for summer.
1. Clean, and cuticle friendly
It’s so important to first soak your nails. To do this use a bowl of hot water with half of lemon (lemon has antibacterial properties). Allow your nails to soak for a few minutes, and then gently push back the cuticles. This is the quickest and easiest method to ensure your hands and nails are clean and free from excess oils, in addition to tidy up your cuticles within minutes.
2.File them correctly
It’s a well-known fact that square nail tips fatten the look of your fingers. For the perfect nail tip, you need to file them to a shape, which is between oval and square.
3. Choose a good polish
Invest in a good quality polish that suits your colours. If you have an old bottle of polish that you love, add a few drops of nail polish thinner to alter the consistency. Once you have done this, gently roll the polish between the palms of your hands so you have a good consistency. Never shake the bottle, as this will produce unwanted air bubbles.
4. Apply
Before you apply the polish, you should first begin with a thin layer of base coat. Wipe one side the brush against the bottle and then tap the other side of the brush on the edge of the bottleneck. This will remove any excess liquid. Start by placing the brush approximately 1mm from the cuticle and gently press up to the cuticle. Brush a thin layer down the middle of the nail, then one to the right and one to the left. Allow a couple of minutes to dry before applying a thin layer of polish. Re-apply once dry and then finish with a topcoat.
5. Wipe away mistakes.
Using a cotton bud with nail polish remover, carefully wipe away any polish misdemeanours. Et, voila!
