Fashions biggest night, the Met Gala fuels creativity in the industry. An annual fundraising benefit Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Every year the Met Gala has its own theme; and this year in 2021 was – In America: A Lexicon of Fashion. This theme intended to give appreciation to American fashion; past and future. After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic, it’s back this year and more dazzling than ever. Although the celebs must follow the Covid 19 rules, this hadn’t stopped them from going full glamour on the red carpet.
Billie Eilish
Starting with a jaw-dropping look that completely took everyone’s breath away. Billie Eilish ditched her signature look of oversized T-shirt and trousers. She showed up with a sensational tulle ball gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. She was glowing on the red carpet with her beautiful blond hairstyle, looking like a spitting image of Maryline Monroe.
Iman
Supermodel Iman was the ultimate goddess of the night. The 66 year old star rocked a giant feather headdress and hoop skirt adorned with wispy gold and blonde feathers. Her crown including the rest of her outfit was crafted by designer Harris Reed. She paired this fabulous look with dark smokey eyes, nude lips and wavy hair.
Lil Nas X
This was Lil Nas’ first time at this event and he did not disappoint! The rapper decided to surprise us all with not one, not two but three separate looks for the event with his well groomed mini afro dreadlocks hair. His first look on the red carpet was a radiant cape covered in gold beading, giving this look a royal essence. Soon after that Lil Nas removed the cape and wowed us all with a golden suit of armour underneath it! However, it didn’t stop there when the star showed us his final showstopping piece; sticking to the golden theme by wearing a bodysuit, the bodycon design covered in crystals and Versace’s signature house print.
Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita looked incredible on the red carpet wearing Versace full navy denim sparkling dress while rocking a natural updo hair and jewellery by De Beers Jewellers. Certainly a work of art.
Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer Hudson gave us such a stunning look on the red carpet, just one day after her 40th birthday. The singer gave us a visual which was one that eyes could not look away from, giving us that old school Hollywood glam. This beautiful updo with her glowing skin and a curvy crimson AZ factory gown made her look outstanding at the event.
