As if Amazon isn’t already one of the world’s biggest and most successful online shopping companies. They are now the owner of seven private fashion brands. Amazon Fashion, an up-and-coming partner company, plans to sell products that third-party sellers aren’t currently providing to their 30 million customers. The company has launched a current total of 1,800 items of clothing across the seven brands; Franklin & Freeman, Franklin Tailored, James & Erin, Lark & Ro, North Eleven, Scout and Ro as well as Society New York.
Society New York is Amazon Fashion’s largest store, with a majority of their items in the women’s dresses and handbags. Franklin Tailored is the second largest store, who specialises in men’s clothing and accessories. In addition, Scout and Ro is exclusively a children’s brand, and North Eleven sells hats, scarves and knitwear for women. With the company’s growth having been anticipated since last October; Jeff Yurcisin, vice president of clothing at Amazon Fashion said; ‘For Amazon, we know our customers love brands and that’s where the lion’s share of our business comes from. When we see gaps, when certain brands have actually decided for their own reasons not to sell with us, our customer still wants a product like that.’
Ed Yruma, KeyBanc Capital analyst, has commented that Amazon’s expanse in fashion will significantly boost their profits. Of course, this isn’t surprising as Amazon has already proven their success in extremely competitive markets; such as the tablet and smartphone market. The Kindle e-reader is one of Amazon’s most popular products, shortly followed by the Amazon Fire Tablet, released last year. With this in mind, there’s no doubt that these seven Amazon Fashion brands will follow in their footsteps and become a big hit with Amazon customers.
