Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking
This is a young adult paranormal trilogy surrounding a 17-year-old Wendy Everly. Once she finds herself lost in another world, she eventually learns of her true identity. Originally self-published as an eBook, Hocking managed to sell more than 1.5 million copies before re-releasing them with St. Martin’s Press. A series of fantasy and mystery, it has already caught the attention of screenwriter Terri Thatchell, who has begun writing a screenplay based on the three novels. So watch this space. Still Alice by Lisa Genova
Genova is primarily a neuroscientist, and has written this novel based on her research on Alzheimer’s disease. When 50-year-old psychology professor, Alice Howland, discovers she has the illness, it quickly takes hold of her life. Shortly after Genova self-published Still Alice, it was acquired by Simon & Schuster and quickly became a best seller. A film adaptation was released in 2014, which also proved to be a huge success.
