Never abandon your pals once your head is in the clouds. Have you ever known somebody who has all the time in the world for you, however once they enter a relationship, they’re nowhere to be found?
Those evening phone calls you and your buddy used to have, suddenly has been put to a halt – even barely getting a text back. These people are known as: Flakes. Perhaps, they don’t even realise they’re doing it, for they are so hopelessly in love that they have no time for the rest that remain under the clouds.
Although we can’t change who people are, we can learn from it. Here are some good reasons why you should never choose a partner over good friends.
You become boring
This is meant in every sense of the word. When your family ask how’s life, you’ll most likely reply with “Oh me and my partner are doing great!” when they merely wanted to know about you. You would also reply with the similar response to just about anything – which would portray you to others as bland and borderline annoying.
You may lose yourself
Good friends are like an extension of your body. Interacting with them from time to time is healthy, and helps remind you of your identity. Buying all your time with your lover may feel good at first – however you’ll eventually lose sight of who you are. And it is friendship that helps to maintain that.
When the chips are down… well you know the rest
We have seen this time and time again. A friend who disappears from your life, returns with no partner and a broken heart. Most people welcome back the flakes in their life once again – however that is not guaranteed. To save yourself the work of forging the friendships you lost, just don’t lose it to begin with.
Cherish your friends!
