Summer equals fun. You get to go out and enjoy long days with your friends or chill and relax by yourself. Hopefully, everything in Britain will be completely open soon. That means we can fill up our diaries with fun activities and after the year we have all had, we all deserve to live it up. Also, summer is the perfect time for you to be creative and experiment with makeup. Now, glowing bronzed skin is still on trend this summer, like always. However, there are some new fun trends that have come up and we can’t wait to try them. These are some of our favourite creative summer makeup trends that you should definitely try out.
Tie-Dye Pastel Eye Shadow
Shop Beauty Bay’s Pastel Eyeshadow Palette Here
Nothing screams summer more than a colourful tie-dye print. Which is why pastel tie-dye eyeshadow looks are on trend for summer makeup this year. Now, you may not be able to party at a music festival this year but this doesn’t mean you still can’t live out your festival fantasy. The pastel tie-dye eye shadow trend is a great way for you to get that festival vibe. You could stick to a similar colour scheme or really go out there and mix up the colours!
Although, to really get the full effect of this look, make sure you don’t bleed the colours too much into each other. You still want to be able to see each individual colour. If you want to try this look out, then we recommend Huda Beauty’s pastel palettes or Beauty Bay’s pastel eyeshadow palette. These are all highly pigmented and the shadows are easy to blend so recreating this look will be breeze.

Blushing Cheeks
Secondly, the next summer make up trend is exaggerated blushing cheeks. Everyone’s cheeks get a bit of colour in them after spending a day in the sun. Now, we can get that look without risking skin to sun damage. You could just place the blush on your cheeks or add a little to your nose to get that sun kissed look. Helpful tip, try and match your blush colour to your lip colour as this will make your makeup appear more seamless and well matched.
If you want to recreate this look, then all you need is a highly pigmented blush. We recommend Illamasqua Colour Veil as they are packed full of colour, a little goes a long way, and they are so easy to blend into the skin. An innovative, hybrid blusher that gives you all the hydrating benefits of a cream blusher, but with the long wear of a Veil primer. They blend easily onto skin and set for all day wear with a soft satin finish. They come in five different shades, Consume, Enamour, Entice, Frisson and Infatuate. So, there’s definitely a shade that will suit your skin tone.

Brushed Up Brows

It seems like the current trend on what to do with brows changes every year. From blocked out brows too wavy brows. This summer makeup trend for brows is for them to be natural, bushy and brushed up. For low maintenance this will be great news for some. Brushed up brows are quick and easy to do. All you need to do is brush up the hairs and fill in any sparse areas with a brow pencil and you are done. To make sure that your brows stay put all day then we recommend that you brush up your brows with Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Brow Freeze before filling them in. Then your brows will last all day, no matter the weather.
Orange Lips
When we think of a classic lip colour we automattically think of a nude or a classic red. But have you ever thought about orange? Orange is this summers IT colour for your lips. It’s fun and vibrant, which is what summer makeup embodies. Orange lipstick is unusually versatile and compliments every beautiful skin tone. So, if you want to add some colour to your makeup looks, but brightly coloured eyeshadow trends aren’t for you, then give an orange lip a go.
Our favourite is Charlotte Tilbury’s orange lipstick in Tell Laura. If you aren’t completely sure, then pop on too Charlotte Tilbury’s website where you can see this particular shade on a wide range of skin tones to see if this trend is for you before making the purchase.

Graphic Liner

If you want to do something fun with makeup, but easy, then why not try doing a brightly coloured graphic liner look. Graphic liners are definitely on trend for summer makeup this year. You just need to swap your black or brown liner with a turquoise or a yellow and you are good to go. Or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, then add multiple colours and do different designs. The possibilities are endless with coloured eyeliners and you can go as crazy as you want.
If you want to give this a go yourself, then check out Glisten Cosmetics Liners. These affordable pigmented formula are perfect for all your creative ideas. Bonus, they also do a line of split liners where you get two colours in one. What’s better then that!
Glossy Tinted Lips
If bright orange lip isn’t really your thing there are other lips trends this summer that may be more to your liking. Natural moisturised lips are also on trend this summer for makeup. Tinted lips are perfect for that no makeup look that we all like to pull off during the summer. They just perfectly finish off your look. Plus, they are easy to apply after a couple of rounds of cocktails at happy hour.
Some perfect picks for tinted lips are the Clinque’s chubby lip balms, Maybelline’s lip glosses that both come in a wide range of colours for you to pick from. And Illamasqua Beyond Lipstick Dazzle – a cream lipstick with a beautiful finish. Dazzle is a true nude, a must-have this summer!
