The month of May gave us several incredible looks. May 2021 saw events such as The Brits, The Billboard Music Awards and the MTV Movie and TV Awards. We round up and take a look at some of the best looks over the last month of May 2021.
Dua Lipa – Ode To Britain
Dua Lipa wore a custom Vivian Westwood dress to this years BRIT awards. Winning the Best British Female and Best album, Dua paid tribute to the young man who risked his life earlier this year by saving a woman from drowning in the river Thames. She also demanded a payrise for NHS workers. Her yellow corseted mini dress with its asymmetric train combined with triple row pearl choker paid homage to the typical Westwood statement. British, polished and punk.
Lipa wore a second look whilst performing. She began her performance wearing a long check coat. The overcoat was quickly removed to reveal a custom painted Union Jack blazer with chain detailing. Here Dua is soaking up every ounce of the Brits. The annual award show aims to celebrate all things British in music. After removing the second layer, Lipa revealed a mini skirt, also custom painted with the Union Jack, and a Westwood corset. This outfit represented everything that it was supposed to, pure riotous Britishness.
Doja Cat – Balmain Beauty
In this years Billboard Music Awards, artists came out in all types of outfits. In a year where people can really start to enjoy their time at physical events, the stars are not here to disappoint. Artist, Doja Cat, appeared at the Billboard Music Awards in a black and white striped Balmain look. The outfit combined matching high waisted flared pants and a bandeau top with oversized, pleated sleeves. The sleeves both connected to a silver neckpiece that contained a large turquoise pendant. This years BBMA’s was the first time Doja Cat and SZA got to perform their new song Kiss Me More. Doja also walked away from the awards winning the title of 2021 ‘Top R&B Artist.
Ariana Grande – White Wedding
Pop star Ariana Grande got married to beau Dalton Gomez. The pair married in a private ceremony in her California home. Grande stunned in a Vera Wang gown. Ariana had promised Vera Wang at the Met Gala a few years before that when the time came Wang would create her wedding day look. Sticking to the promise Ariana looked as if she had channeled a vintage Audrey Hepburn inspired look for the special day.
The dress was a white silk gown with an empire-waist featuring a sculpted neckline and a plunging back – typical for Ariana’s aesthetic. Grande also sported a shoulder length bubble veil with a satin bow at the top. The star also wore diamond and pearl earrings made by jeweller to the stars, Lorraine Schwartz. The main feature of the look for many was Ariana’s incredibly high shoes. The shoes were custom Giuseppe Zanotti platforms which accentuated the singers sleek figure.
Megan Fox – Stealing the Style Spotlight
Megan Fox appeared next to longtime boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly at the iHeartRadio Music Awards this month. Fox wore a sleek top with matching trousers by Mach&Mach in Barbie Pink. Also featuring embellished bows on her shoulders matching the sparkled pumps she was wearing.
The couple received a lot of attention online for their red carpet photos. The pair were pictured posing together whilst kissing and expressing a lot of PDA. Kelly was wearing silver leather shorts and a glittered white blazer featuring a pink butterfly, matching the pink of Fox’s skintight look. The pair nailed the look they were looking for and gave audiences the full Barbie and Ken look.
Kim Kardashian – Is This Kim’s Best Look?
Kim Kardashian has dialled her look down this month. This comes after the rumours surrounding her divorce from rapper Kanye West start to fuel up again. As the world knows, Kim and Kanye have filed for divorce and this has led to Kim toning her look down to a makeup-free simpler look.
This simple look is shown in her Instagram post from ex brother-in-law Scott Disicks birthday party. The post features the reality star wearing a curve clinging Vivian Westwood gown. The dress hangs beautifully from Kardahsians body displaying her shoulders. Finishing off the look, Kim is sporting a necklace from family friend, jeweller Lorraine Schwartz. Combined with this is flawless makeup by KKW’s regular makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. Kim’s more toned down look as become largely popular among her fans who claim that she is returning to who she was before Kanye.
