But before talking about the t-shirt you will want to buy straight away, let’s go with a little bit of history. Across the different fashion and styles there always has been one constant: the Levi’s 501®. It was 148 years ago when Levi Strauss and Jacob David had an idea: create pants with copper rivets that were extremely strong and durable. And this is how the world’s first original denim jeans was patented on May 20, 1873.
Straight leg and button fly. The iconic blue jean that everyone wanted to wear. From a factory worker to a film star, the 501® has been an essential style choice since the mid-20th century.
“The 501® is the original blue jean so it made sense to celebrate our icon with this cast of ORIGINALS.”
Karen Riley-Grant, Levi’s chief marketing officer.
The 501® is the direct ancestor of all the jeans that we wear today. And like every year, the last May 20 Levi’s celebrated his 148 anniversary in style. They launched something really special for us: the Levi’s t-shirt that you are going to see everywhere from now on.

Most of us have had a Levi’s t-shirt in our closet, but this one has something different. This t-shirt celebrates one of the most important moments in Levi’s history. The design is made under the influence of the most classic Levi’s style. A white background on which some original 501 prints from the 70s, 80s and 90s have been placed. In other words, the purest retro charm that you would love to wear this summer.
But surprises and new product drops are not over yet. For the 501® Day campaign Levi’s has also teamed-up with the Japanese cult brand Wasted Youth in a very special collaboration. Together, they joined their creative talents to bring a wondrous piece: some black jeans with red lines on the waist and coin pockets. A stylish renewal of the punk and skater approach of the Japanese brand. Wasted Youth logo in white also looks clearly visible above the left front pocket.
The 501® Day campaign also had the face and voice of illustrious celebrities such as Naomi Osaka, Hailey Bieber, Emma Chamberlain, Barbie Ferreira, Jaden Smith, Marcus Rashford MBE y Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
