The Met Gala is the biggest fashion night of the year and we couldn’t wait to check out the best, the worst and the weirdest dressed celebrities. This year’s exhibition is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,” with hosts including Anna Wintour, Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams and the night’s honorary chairwomen Ms. Kawakubo and Caroline Kennedy. It was a night not to be missed.
This is a tricky situation for most celebrities – wearing Comme de Garcons in public without looking bizarre is a practical impossibility. Additionally, each year the stakes are raised (clothes-wise) to push things a little further. Celebrities and designers spend many painstaking days, even weeks carefully selecting an outfit that will get everyone talking. This year’s selection of attire certainly has everyone gawping in slack-jawed amazement – but not necessarily for the intended reasons.
Cue Katy Perry, Madonna, Helen Lasichanh (Pharrell William’s wife), Kendall Jenner, Julianne Moore and Rihanna who wore such crazy bold outfits you would need infinite amounts of confidence to pull off.
Here are the best, worst and wierdest dressed below.
We are totally sold on this Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda gown, Zendaya definitely stunned at the Met gala. Best dressed for us.
Kendall Jenner wore practically nothing, the supermodel donned this sparkling La Perla cutout number.
Kim looks ever so stunning in Vivienne Westwood.
Beauty mogu Kylie gave us a Versace spin on the naked dress.
RAMI MALEK rocked a red Dior Homme suit. Solange came in an avant-garde Thom Browne number.
Katy Perry took her look to the extreme in a red skeleton-like dress and bizarrely fascinating head piece by Margiela. We love the exceptionally talented singer’s confidence – if anyone can get away with this, Katy Perry can.
Rihanna’s Comme de Garcons flower dress was beautifully extravagant (to the point whereby you may question whether it is actually a dress). However, after catching a glimpse of those stunning red strappy shoes, balance is once again restored in the universe.
Claire Danes came in a deconstructed Monse look paired with lace-up cropped flares.
Jaden Smith rocks a tailored Louis Vuitton ensemble paired with boots. Its fair too say when your hair gets to heavy on your head, why not cut it off and just carry around with you. But honestly, with or without dreads we love Jaden all the same<3
Let’s talk about wierdest, Comme des Garçons is known for its odd shapes. Well Helen may have looked wierd but set the ‘red’ on the carpet.
Selena looked so simple and chic.
CARA DELEVINGNE came all suited up with silver hair too.
J-Lo never looks anything other than stunning, and this year’s Met Gala was no different. J-Lo wore a long pale blue Valentino dress; seeing the star’s outfit was like a breath of fresh air for the brain.
How will next year’s Met Gala top this?
